A Closer Look at Laura Lorson's Top 3 Picks

My favorite three albums of the year (2020) crept up on me -- when someone asks me about my favorite music, I almost always pick either straight-ahead rock and roll or progressive rock, but this year was kind of all over the map. A lot of people I know had a lot more time for music and exploring new things, but since we never took a break from working, this year felt very scattered and frantic and led me towards more "comfort food" music than I usually go for.

KPR Announces New Classical Music Director

Kansas Public Radio has a “new” director of classical music. Friday, September 20, was Michael Keelan’s last day as Classical Music Director and Morning Classical host. Michael served KPR well over his four-year stint at the station — bringing exceptional musical knowledge to the morning classical program, expanding the number and variety of in-studio performances, and helping pioneer KPR’s Live Day broadcasts. Filling Michael’s shoes is longtime Evening Classical host and listener favorite Cordelia Brown.

The opera company’s 2015 season is entitled “LOTs of LOL (Love, Obsession, and Laughter),” which characterizes its general tone. This year, the festival will culminate in a full production of the ultimate story of love and obsession, Bizet's dramatic and well-loved "Carmen."
