If the shoe fits... wear it. More than a thousand grade school students in Franklin County are getting a free pair of brand-name shoes. The shoe giveaway is part of a joint effort by AdventHealth Ottawa and a non-profit called "Shoes That Fit." KPR's J. In connection with Black History Month, Washburn University is hosting the Kansas premiere of "Brothers of the Dust" by award-winning playwright Darren Canady this weekend. This family drama tells the story of siblings that return to their family farm in 1958 with very different ideas about the land and their legacy. Shows run from February 23rd through March 3rd.

Kansas City Police report that two people are in custody after a shooting west of Union Station near the parking garage, which occurred near the end of Wednesday's Chiefs victory rally. One person is dead and at least 22 were injured, not including those hurt in the rush out of the area.

Ocean explorers think they have discovered the wreckage of Amelia Earhart's airplane, which has been missing since 1937. Earhart, a native of Atchison, Kansas, was flying with her navigator, Fred Noonan, when their plane disappeared 87 years ago. The two were trying to flay around the world.
