On this edition of Conversations, Valerie Tripp talks with host Dan Skinner about a new series of books from National Geographic Kids. The series, written by Tripp, begins with “Izzy Newton and the S.M.A.R.T. Squad: Absolute Hero.” Tripp is also part of the creative team behind the American Girl series and has written many of the books in the series. 


Conversations: Jeff VanderMeer, "A Peculiar Peril"

On this edition of Conversations, Jeff VanderMeer talks with host Dan Skinner about “A Peculiar Peril,” a book for young readers 8 to 80. VanderMeer is a Nebula Award winning author whose books include the best-selling novel, “Annihilation,” which was made into a movie in 2018. His other works include his “Southern Reach” trilogy, “Dead Astronauts,” “Borne” and “The Strange Bird.”


Conversations: Mark Shulman, "Show Me History!"

On this edition of Conversations, Mark Shulman talks with host Dan Skinner about two of the latest editions to the "Show Me History!" series, “Walt Disney: The Magical Innovator” and “Susan B. Anthony: Champion of Voting Rights.” Shulman has written more than 150 books for kids of all ages. He has written for Scholastic, DK, National Geographic, and many more. 


Conversations: Crispin Boyer, "Zeus The Mighty: The Maze of the Menacing Minotaur"

On this edition of Conversations, Crispin Boyer talks with host Dan Skinner about “Zeus the Mighty: The Maze of the Menacing Minotaur.” Boyer has written more than 20 books for National Geographic Kids. This is his second novel in a series featuring the character, Zeus the Mighty.


Conversations: Soman Chainani, "The School for Good and Evil: One True King"

On this edition of Conversations, Soman Chainani talks with host Dan Skinner about “The School of Good and Evil: One True King.” The novel is the sixth and final book in the bestselling series. He also discusses how "The School for Good and Evil" is being made into a movie for Netflix, directed by Paul Feig.  


Conversations: Roshani Chokshi, "Aru Shah and the Tree of Wishes"

On this edition of Conversations, Roshani Chokshi talks with host Dan Skinner about her latest book in the Pandava series, “Aru Shah and the Tree of Wishes.” Chokshi is the author of the best-selling Young Adult books, “The Star-Touched Queen” and “The Gilded Wolves.” She also wrote two previous books in the Pandava series, “Aru Shah and the End of Time” and its sequel, “Aru Shah and the Song of Death.” 


Conversations: Trudi Trueit, "Explorer Academy: The Star Dunes"

On this edition of Conversations, Trudi Trueit talks with host Dan Skinner about "The Star Dunes," another installment in The Explorer Academy series from National Geographic Kids. Trueit has authored more than 100 books — both fiction and nonfiction — for young readers, including “The Sister Solution,” “Stealing Popular” and the “Secrets of a Lab Rat” series.
