Conversations: Marlo Angell, Lawrence Art Center's Free State Festival

Marlo Angell is the Director of New Media at the Lawrence Arts Center, and the Founder and Director of the Free State Festival. On this edition of Conversations, we'll talk about the origin of the festival, and how it has grown over time to include much more than film. We'll also discuss the next Festival, which will take place in the Fall of 2018.


 

Conversations: Carolyn Welch, Lawrence Children's Choir

Carolyn Welch is the Artistic Director of the Lawrence Children’s Choir. On this edition of Conversations, she joins us to talk about the organization, their upcoming fundraising event and concert. The 6th Annual Harvest of Harmony benefit event will be held on Friday November 3rd. The Fall Holiday concert will be on November 19th.

Conversations: Saralyn Reece Hardy, Spencer Museum of Art's Collection Centennial

The Spencer Museum of Art is celebrating the centennial of its art collection. On this edition of Conversations, I talk with museum director, Saralyn Reece Hardy about the history of the collection, which was gifted to KU in 1917, how the collection has grown, and her crystal ball predictions about how the museum will grow in the future. Conversations: Sales Tax Renewal Proposal

On this edition of Conversations, Brandon McGuire, Assistant to the Lawrence City Manager and Porter Arneill, Interim Communications Manager, join me to talk about the Sales Tax Renewal Proposal and how it impacts the City of Lawrence. Three sales tax renewal questions will appear on the November General Election Ballot on November 7, 2017. The proposal calls for .2 percent for public transportation, .3 percent for infrastructure and equipment, and .05 percent for affordable housing.

Green talks about the history of the organization, the services they offer to young people in Douglas County, and yes, we'll talk about those beautiful benches as well.
