Photo of Kaye McIntyre and Elizabeth Bunce

Week of July 3, 2022: Meet Myrtle Hardcastle, the heroine of Premeditated Myrtle, winner of the prestigious Edgar Award for Best Juvenile Mystery and a Kansas Notable Book. It's a conversation with Elizabeth Bunce of Lenexa. This conversation originally aired on KPR Presents on July 4, 2021. Bunce has released two more Myrtle Hardcastle books; a fourth, Myrtle Peril, comes out in October. Bunce has become one of only three novelists to be a two-time finalist for the Edgar, the Agatha, and the Anthony Awards.

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition, Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!, This American Life, and The Moth Radio Hour. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents, which changed its name in 2025 to Prairie Journal. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
