KPR Presents: Prisca Barnes, Lindsay Metcalf

Clockwise: Lindsay Metcalf on combine, book cover of "People, Pride, and Promise," Prisca Barnes with Kaye McIntyre, book cover of "Farmers Unite"
Conversation with Lindsay Metcalf

Week of November 28, 2021: Two Kansas children's book authors take on political protests: Prisca Barnes of Wichita is the author of People, Pride, and Promise: The Story of the Dockum Sit-In, and Lindsay Metcalf of Concordia is the author of Farmers Unite!: Planting a Protest for Fair Prices. Both books were named 2021 Kansas Notable Books, awarded by the State Library of Kansas.

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition, Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!, This American Life, and The Moth Radio Hour. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents, which changed its name in 2025 to Prairie Journal. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
