The novel deals with themes of childhood trauma, relationships, courage, forgiveness and acceptance. It was inspired by the author's relationship with her real-life sister, and her sister's 349 pound wait loss. She is also the co-host, along with her sister, of the “Life After Fat Pants" podcast.
