Fort Riley's top commanders have unveiled a five-year strategic plan to let soldiers and community members know what's in store for the northeast Kansas army post. The 2020 Campaign Plan provides a comprehensive blueprint for the future of the "Fighting First" Infantry Division based at the fort. The commanding officer, Major General Wayne Grigsby, said the future of Fort Riley is bright, primarily because of strong support from surrounding communities.
Among other things, General Grigsby talked about increasing the fort's capacity for joint training exercises involving active duty soldiers, members of the Kansas National Guard, army reserve, law enforcement and first responders. The new campaign plan was unveiled to state and local leaders last Friday.
