One of the greatest writers about film is British critic and historian David Thomson. He's the author of many classic texts about movies, including The New Biographical Dictionary of Film. He's in Lawrence tonight (THUR) at the Kansas Union, giving a presentation called "The Seen of the Crime," in which he'll talk about how people see crime in the movies, and how that affects us culturally.

He speaks tonight (THUR) at Woodruff Auditorium at the Kansas Union on the KU campus, as part of the film series "Seen of the Crime." He'll discuss crime in the movies, crime in real life, and how presentation and cinematic point of view affect how we perceive crime and punishment.
