USDA Planning for Response to Future Bird Flu Outbreaks

U-S Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says he’s preparing for another outbreak of bird flu this fall. Vilsack told a Congressional panel he’s trying to have a better plan in place for the disposal of birds killed to keep the virus in check.


This spring, nearly 50 million turkeys and chickens had to be killed because of bird flu, most of them in the Midwest.
