Two of the annual events that give Lawrence its reputation as a place for offbeat entertainment are combining this year to provide a wacky weekend of fun. The Lawrence Busker Festival draws some of the best street performers of all varieties from around the world. This year, the festival has moved from August to the final weekend of May. It will coincide and share several venues with the annual Art Tougeau Wheeled Art Parade which features artfully, and often crazily, decorated vehicles including cars, trucks, bicycles and just about anything with wheels. KPR’s Tom Parkinson spoke with the organizers of both events, Richard Renner and Pat Slimmer, about why they decided to combine their festivities this year and about what visitors can expect this weekend in downtown Lawrence.
