Weather Symposium in Lawrence for Severe Weather Preparedness Week
The first week of March is National Severe Weather Preparedness Week. It's a time when meteorologists and emergency management agencies work together to refresh everyone's memory about severe weather, the differences between watches and warnings, and to remind people about basic preparedness planning. Jillian Rodrigue (JILL-yun ROAD-rig) of the Douglas County Emergency Management Department spoke with KPR's Laura Lorson about a weather symposium being held in conjunction with severe weather awareness week. But first, they discussed the importance of reviewing community and family disaster preparedness every year.
Jillian Rodrigue works for the Douglas County Emergency Management Department. She spoke with KPR's Laura Lorson about a weather education event scheduled for March 7th at the Kansas Union on the University of Kansas campus. Registration is required...the deadline is Saturday. You can sign up and get more information about the event online at douglascountyks.org.
