State Representative Dennis "Boog" Highberger is something of a cultural institution in Lawrence. A native of Garnett, he was elected student body vice president at the University of Kansas in 1984 and graduated from the KU Law School in 1992. Along the way, he became known as an outspoken campus fixture and cultural critic. Highberger also served as a Lawrence City Commissioner and as mayor. Since 2015, he's served as a Democratic member of the Kansas House. Now, Highberger has gathered some of the essays, speeches, and letters that's he's been known for since his student days into a new book called "Boogorama." KPR's Laura Lorson recently spoke to him.
That was KPR's Laura Lorson, speaking with Democratic state Representative Boog Highberger of Lawrence. His new book is called "Boogorama."
