Small Business Group Wants Kansas Governor to Veto Tax Bill

The Kansas chapter of a national group that lobbies on behalf of small businesses is criticizing the new budget-balancing measure passed by the state Legislature that would reinstate income taxes for more than 300,000 Kansas businesses. Dan Murray with the National Federation of Independent Businesses says his group is opposed to business tax increases in general but, he says, this legislation is particularly troublesome because it would make the change retroactive back to the first of this year.

Governor Sam Brownback has said he would not sign the bill but he has not explicitly said that he would veto the measure.
