Attorneys challenging a Kansas voter registration requirement are trying to add a new plaintiff to their lawsuit. KPR’s Stephen Koranda reports.

Attorneys have moved to add a 20-year-old KU student to the lawsuit because his registration was blocked. He’s supposed to represent the thousands of Kansans whose registrations were put on hold because they lacked citizenship documents.
The lawsuit seeks to overturn the requirement in Kansas law, which Secretary of State Kris Kobach pushed for. His office says they will respond to the request in court.
The lawsuit was originally filed on behalf of two Douglas County residents, who did not prove their citizenship, but Secretary Kobach’s office tracked down their citizenship documents and registered them to vote.
