Governor Sam Brownback says his administration will not assist in the relocation of Syrian refugees to Kansas. Brownback says most people seeking to escape Syria are peaceful, but the attack in Paris was a reminder of the dangers.

“My first priority as governor is the safety of all Kansans. We must take immediate action to ensure terrorists do not enter the nation, or our state, under the guise of refugee resettlement,” says Brownback.

The executive order blocks any state agency from helping to relocate Syrian refugees to Kansas. Brownback joins several other governors who oppose bringing the refugees to their states.

Brownback suggests relocating the displaced people to a nation closer to Syria.
