Kansas lawmakers are hoping to write a new school funding formula and put it in place two years from now.  So, how do public schools get funded in the meantime?  That's just one of the issues addressed in this week's installment of "In Session," news from the Kansas Statehouse.  KPR's J. Schafer spoke with Statehouse reporter Stephen Koranda and Jim McLean, of the KHI News Service, to learn more.  First, Stephen was asked about doing away with the current plan to fund Kansas public schools.

That's Jim McLean, with the KHI News Service.  He was speaking with KPR's J. Schafer and KPR Statehouse reporter Stephen Koranda.

Based in Topeka, the Kansas Health Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan health policy and research organization focused on issues that impact the health of Kansans. The Kansas Health Institute was established in 1995 with a multiyear grant from the Kansas Health Foundation. The foundation made the commitment based on its conclusion that health policy decisions often were based on fragmented, anecdotal and sometimes biased information.
