Last week, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback ordered new funding cuts for public schools and state universities. At the same time, the Legislature passed an emergency stop-gap measure designed to close a growing gap in the state budget. Kansas government is running low on money and without these actions, officials say the state won't be able to pay its bills on time. Filling the budget hole.
