The Topeka Tornado of 1966

image of The Topeka Tornado of 1966This week marks the 45th anniversary of the 1966 Topeka tornado, one of the most destructive tornadoes in Kansas history. Join us 8:00 Sunday evening as we revisit the evening of June 8, 1966, with veteran broadcaster Bill Kurtis, who was on WIBW for 24 hours straight during and after the tornado. Host Kaye McIntyre will also talk to Bonar Menninger, author of "And Hell Followed With It," a gripping account of the 1966 tornado.

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition Saturday, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, and To the Best of Our Knowledge. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
