Conversations: Veera Hiranandani, "The Night Diary"

Set in 1947,The Night Diarytells the story of India's partition, a division that spawned xenophobia and caused the largest human migration in history. On this edition of Conversations, Veera Hiranandani joins us to talk about her book for young readers and how she presents this story through the diary entries of a twelve-year-old girl named Nisha, as she struggles to understand what is happening around her. This is Hiranandani's second book. She teaches creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College’s Writing Institute and Writopia Lab.
