Kansas Public Radio earned seven individual awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters (KAB) this year. KPR earned honors in the news, commentary, programming and website categories. The station captured one First Place award, three Second Place awards and three Honorable Mentions in the statewide contest. KPR had been the KAB's reigning Station of the Year since August of 2016, but did not earn the top title this year. Since the award was first created in 1996, KPR has won the Station of the Year award 16 times, more than any other radio or TV station in the state. This year's individual awards for KPR are:

The KAB announced the award winners this week, but the actual awards will be handed out during the KAB's annual convention. This year's KAB convention will be held in Manhattan, October 15-17.
