Kansas Highway Patrol Chase Leads to I-435 Fatality

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KC Star) - One person was killed and two others injured Friday after Missouri State Highway Patrol pursued a vehicle onto Interstate 435. The Kansas City Star reports that the Missouri Highway Patrol was pursuing a pickup truck that had fled a traffic stop when it struck another vehicle. Two of the three people in the suspect vehicle were thrown onto the highway. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger was struck by a passing semi-truck. The Kansas City Police Department is investigating the crash.


Four People Injured in Blue Springs Shootout

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (KMBC) - Blue Springs, Missouri, police are investigating after four people were wounded in a shooting Saturday night. KMBC reports that investigators believe the majority of the people involved were riding on motorcycles, possibly from two different motorcycle groups. No arrests have been made in the case, which remains under investigation. The victims' injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Few other details has been released.  


Former KU Athlete, Coach Waugh Dies

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KPR) - Former University of Kansas student-athlete and coach Jerry Waugh has died at the age of 95. KU Athletics reports that Waugh's family said he died Saturday at his home in Wichita. Waugh played KU basketball from 1947 to 1951 under legendary coach Phog Allen, and later served as assistant basketball coach, men's and women's golf coach, and assistant athletics director.


Kansas Highway Patrol Identifies Pedestrian Killed on I-435

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas State Highway Patrol has identified a pedestrian struck and killed in a crash along Interstate 435 in Johnson County. KCTV reports 27-year-old Reginae Chatmon was walking on the interstate Saturday night when she was struck by a pickup driven by a 75-year-old Olathe man. The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating.
