Hundreds of students across the state walked out of class as part of the "National School Walkout." The Lawrence Journal World reports that about 300 students walked out of class Friday on what was the 19th anniversary of the deadly Columbine shooting. The Wichita Eagle and the Kansas City Star report that students also walked out of schools in Wichita and the Kansas City metro area, many wearing orange and black, the unofficial colors of the National School Walkout. Meanwhile, the Topeka Capitol-Journal reports that about 200 people gathered at the Kansas Statehouse Friday in support of the Second Amendment. About three dozen Topeka high school students held a peaceful counter-protest nearby.
