It's July, so it's hot in northeast and east central Kansas...but this week, it's expected to be hotter than normal. The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories and an excessive heat warning for portions of the KPR listening area, extending through Saturday in some locations. Brandon Drake is a meteorologist with the NWS in Topeka, and explains the difference between the two kinds of alerts.
Listeners are cautioned to check on neighbors, wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing, and stay hydrated through the duration of the heat advisories and warnings.
