Among the 334,000 small businesses in Kansas that pay no state income tax is one called BCLT II, LLC. You’ve probably never heard of it, most people haven’t. But it’s owned by the highest paid state employee in Kansas and one of the biggest names in college sports. KCUR’s Sam Zeff has uncovered what might be the biggest unintended consequence of the Brownback tax cuts.

KCUR’s Dan Margolies co-reported this story. You can read the coaches’ contracts at the KCUR website

KCUR-FM, 89.3FM, is the flagship NPR station of the Kansas City metro area. It is part of Kansas City Public Media and part of the NPR digital network. Licensed to the University of Missouri-Kansas City and located on the UMCK campus.
