Should Midwestern Studies be revived? That's a big question -- and one of several that will be tackled this weekend at the University of Kansas. KU is hosting a conference about the role of the Midwest in major national issues. Kansas historian Virgil Dean - and Chuck Myers, director of University Press of Kansas - are two scholars taking part. KPR's J. Schafer spoke to both men about "Midwestern Studies" and began by asking them what, exactly, that term means.
That's Chuck Myers, director of University Press of Kansas and Kansas historian Virgil Dean. They were speaking with KPR's J. Schafer. Both Myers and Dean are taking part in a panel discussion at the Mid-America American Studies Conference at KU this weekend. Their panel discussion - "Should Midwestern Studies Be Revived" - takes place at 10am Saturday in 208 Smith Hall, across the street from the Kansas Memorial Union.
