KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — All-Star outfielder Alex Gordon has signed a $72 million, four-year deal to remain with the World Series champion Kansas City Royals, the team that drafted him more than a decade ago. The deal, first reported by MLB.com, includes a mutual option for the 2020 season. Its value makes it the largest in franchise history, trumping $55 million deals given to Mike Sweeney and Gil Meche, a person familiar with the contract told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because financial terms were not released. The 31-year-old Gordon declined an option for $13.75 million to test free agency. Injuries limited him to 104 games last season.
