The Kansas Board of Regents has named Allison Garrett as the next president of Emporia State University. The board unanimously voted to hire Garrett at a ceremony Thursday in Emporia.
“It is clear that there’s a special spirit in this place. You all strive for excellence and achieve it, and I am so excited to be able to serve you in the future,” says Garrett.
Garrett is currently executive vice president at Abilene Christian University in Texas. She will take over in January. Emporia State's previous president, Michael Shonrock, left to lead Lindenwood University in Missouri.
