Senator Moran: Army Reductions in Kansas Could Have Been Worse
The U.S. Army has announced that both Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth will see a reduction in troop levels- but not by much. Fort Riley will lose 615 active duty soldiers and Fort Leavenworth will be downsized by 60 soldiers. Kansas Senator Jerry Moran says the cuts could’ve been much deeper.
The Army has nearly 500,000 active-duty troops and is cutting about 8 percent of its force, or about 40,000 soldiers nationwide.
