USDA to Allow More Egg Imports, Citing Bird Flu

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the vaccine currently being used to fight bird flu doesn't work well enough to approve it for emergency use against the current outbreak. The USDA said this week that the current vaccine is not well matched against the H5N2 virus and doesn't provide enough protection.The outbreak of bird flu among egg producers in the Midwest has severely limited egg supplies throughout the nation. Now, the USDA  has decided to allow egg imports from the Netherlands to help supply American bakers. Harvest Public Media’s Peggy Lowe reports.
