Brownback Presented with School Funding Bill
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ A bill overhauling how Kansas distributes funds to public schools has been delivered to Governor Sam Brownback's office. The Legislature reported that the bill was presented yesterday (Friday) to Brownback. He has until March 30th to act, but he's expected to sign the measure.

Kansas Unemployment Rate Holds Steady
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Kansas reports that its unemployment rate remained at 4.2 percent in February and that employment by private companies grew over the previous year. The state Department of Labor's report yesterday (FRI) means that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was the same for three consecutive months. It compares to a rate of 4.6 percent for February 2014.

McLinn Convicted in Lawrence Murder Case
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ A 20-year-old Kansas woman has been convicted of killing her roommate and former employer. Jurors in Douglas County deliberated nearly five hours before finding Sarah Gonzales McLinn of Lawrence guilty of first-degree murder in the January 2014 death of 52-year-old pizza shop owner Harold Sasko.

Former KCK Archdiocese Employee Charged with Embezzlement
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) _ A former employee of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas has been charged with embezzling $116,000. The Wyandotte County prosecutor's office announced yesterday (FRI) that 52-year-old Rose A. Hammes, of Kansas City, Kansas, is charged with three counts of felony theft. She is jailed in Wyandotte County on $50,000 bond.
