State’s Largest Health Insurer to Help Red Cross

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas – the state’s largest health insurance company – has entered into a unique partnership with the Kansas chapter of the American Red Cross. Twenty-nine Blue Cross employees have volunteered for a disaster response team. And the company has agreed to give team members special leave if and when the Red Cross needs them.Jenalea (Jen-a-lee) Randall, a community relations manager for Blue Cross, says team members have received special training and are ready should disaster strike.

Red Cross officials say Blue Cross Blue Shield is the only company in the state to volunteer a group of its employees to help with disaster relief. But they say they state workers have formed a similar group.
