Small Kansas towns have faced many challenges over the years, and 2012 has been no exception. The town of Burlingame is one of those fighting for its economic survival. Patty Gilbert is the town's city clerk.
Gilbert says one positive development is that Burlingame's post office is NOT being targeted for closure, and that means there's still a lot of hope that the town can survive. Gilbert says area boosters are hoping for a big turnout at the town's annual "Country Christmas" event, which will feature lots of activities, including a craft show, hayrack rides, stagecoach rides...
The Country Christmas event is scheduled for this Saturday (December 1) in Burlingame.
Activities will begin in the morning, leading up to the town's annual tree lighting around 5:30 pm, followed by a lighted Christmas parade. For more information, visit destinationBurlingameKS.com or the Burlingame, Kansas Facebook page.
