StoryCorps & Kansas Silent Film Festival

February 22, 2015: Last year marked the 60th anniversary of the historic desegregation decision in Brown v. the Topeka Board of Education. To celebrate the anniversary, the Kansas Humanities Council joined with NPR's StoryCorps project to interview area residents about growing up in Topeka during and after the landmark case.  In celebration of Black History Month, we'll hear many of those interviews.  We'll also preview this year's Kansas Silent Film Festival, which is marking the 100th anniversary of one of the most incendiary and controversial films ever made, The Birth of a Nation

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition Saturday, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, and To the Best of Our Knowledge. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
