Nabil Ayers is a musician, record executive, and essayist. He's written a memoir focused on his complicated relationship with his family, and his wide-ranging career. His father, jazz musician Roy Ayers, wasn't a presence in his life through his childhood and young adulthood. Ayers will be appearing tonight (THUR) at the Lawrence Public Library to discuss his book, "My Life in the Sunshine." KPR's Laura Lorson talked with him about his many years in the music industry, and asked about his earliest memories of making music.

Nabil Ayers is the author of My Life in the Sunshine: Searching for My Father and Discovering My Family. He was speaking with KPR's Laura Lorson. Ayers will be appearing at the Lawrence Public Library tonight (THUR) for a conversation with the library's executive director, Brad Allen.  Admission is free. The event begins at 7 p.m. For more information, visit lplks.org.
