Kansas Celebrates 161st Birthday this Weekend

Kansas became a state by entering the Union as the 34th state on January 29, 1861. Less than a hundred years later, a man from Abilene - Dwight D. Eisenhower - would become the nation's 34th president. Neat, huh? We're just spit-balling here, but one way to celebrate Kansas Day this year is to make a pledge to Kansas Public Radio in the amount of $161.00 - in honor of the state's 161st birthday. Thanks for thinking of KPR on Kansas Day. KPR has been serving Kansans since 1952. That's 70 years of service to the Sunflower State. And we think that's worth celebrating.
