Identity theft remains a fast growing crime.  Experts say 60 million Americans have already been affected by ID theft.  One way to combat the problem is by better protecting your personal information, including paper documents.  As part of National Consumer Protection Week, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt says his office is holding a number of free document destruction events across the state.

Schmidt says the document destruction events will be held next week in Lawrence, Topeka, Manhattan, Basehor, Salina, Hutchinson, Newton and Dodge City.  For more information, visit:  www.InYourCornerKansas.org
