The U.S. Supreme Court’s rejection of the latest challenge to the Affordable Care Act means that nearly 70,000 Kansans won’t have to worry about losing the federal subsidies that helped make their coverage affordable. The same is true for nearly 200,000 Missouri consumers. Former Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger, a Republican who supports the law, says the court made the right decision. She says, if the court had invalidated the subsidies:
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon, a Democrat, says the decision could also help his state move forward on Medicaid expansion.
Obamacare opponents criticized the decision. Kansas Congressman Tim Huelskamp says Congress should renew its efforts to repeal the health reform law.
