More than 6,000 abused and neglected children entered the Kansas court system last year. As part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, KPR's J. Schafer tells us about one non-profit agency that's looking out for these children.
CASA chapters across Kansas are constantly recruiting and training new volunteers to help look out for abused and neglected children. Check with the CASA office nearest you for more information. (Here's the webpage for Douglas County CASA.)

Volunteers Needed to Help Abused, Neglected Children
Last year, more than 6,000 Kansas children entered the court system as victims of abuse and neglect. One agency advocating for abused children is CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates. Aaron Estabrook works for the Sunflower CASA Project in Manhattan, which serves children in Clay, Riley and Pottawatomie counties.
Estabrook says CASA chapters all across the state are actively recruiting new volunteers during April, which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
