On this edition of Conversations, Alka Joshi talks with host Dan Skinner about her debut novel, “The Henna Artist.” Set in 1950s India, it tells the story of a woman who flees an arranged marriage to start a new life. Joshi was born in India but her family came to American when she was nine years old. She’s a graduate of Stanford University and has an MFA from the California College of the Arts.
