Host Dan Skinner shares interviews with writers about recent works of fiction and non-fiction, featuring internationally known best-selling authors as well as new voices in literature. Conversations also shares updates on the area art scene through discussions about upcoming performances and exhibits.

Conversations: Missy Koonce, Kansas Repertory Theatre presents "La Cage aux Folles"

On this edition of Conversations, Missy Koonce joins us to talk about the Kansas Repertory Theater production of La Cage aux Folles. Koonce is directing the production, which opens on July 13 at the Crafton-Preyer Theatre in Murphy Hall on the KU campus. She says her version of the musical will be scaled down and a bit more gritty to embrace the honesty of the situation, but don't worry, she's not forsaking the "glam."

Conversations: Ellen Meacham, "Delta Epiphany - Robert F. Kennedy in Mississippi"

Remembering RFK. This week marks the 50th anniversary of Robert F. Kennedy's death. On April 10, 1967, RFK visited the Mississippi Delta and it had a profound impact on him. On this edition of Conversations, Ellen Meacham joins us to talk about her book, Delta Epiphany: Robert F. Kennedy in Mississippi. Meacham has been a journalist for more than 20 years. Her work has appeared in the New York Times and many other places.

Conversations: Larry Tye, "Bobby Kennedy: The Making of a Liberal Icon"

Remembering RFK. Robert F. Kennedy died 50 years ago today, June 6, 1968. To commemorate his passing, on this edition of Conversations, a reissue of my conversation with Larry Tye about his book Bobby Kennedy: The Making of a Liberal Icon. Larry Tye is a former award-winning journalist at The Boston Globe. He is the author of the New York Times bestseller Satchel as well as several other books.

Marc Perrusquia is a journalist for The Commercial Appeal, the daily newspaper in Memphis, Tennessee, where he has worked for the past 29 years. He has won numerous awards for both feature writing and investigative reporting. On this edition of Conversations, he joins us to talk about his book, A Spy in Canaan: How the FBI Used a Famous Photographer to Infiltrate the Civil Rights Movement.

Conversations: Kim Brophey, "Meet Your Dog - The Game Changing Guide to Understanding Your Dog's Behavior"

On this edition of Conversations, Kim Brophey joins us to talk about her book, Meet Your Dog: The Game-Changing Guide to Understanding Your Dog’s Behavior. Brophey is an applied ethologist, certified dog behavior consultant, and lifelong dog nerd. She is the developer of the L.E.G.S.® dog behavior model and Dog Key™ software. Kim lives in Asheville, North Carolina, where she operates a modern dog behavior center.

Conversations: Lisa Stulberg, "LGBTQ Social Movements"

On this edition of Conversations, Lisa Stulberg joins us to talk about her latest book, LGBTQ Social Movements. Stulberg is associate Professor of Sociology of Education at New York University. Her research focuses on the politics of race and education, affirmative action in higher education, school choice policy and politics, and LGBTQ social change.
