Conversations is sometimes serious and sometimes humorous, but always informative. Host Dan Skinner shares interviews with writers about recent works of fiction and non-fiction, featuring internationally known best-selling authors as well as new voices in literature. Conversations also shares updates on the area art scene through discussions about upcoming performances and exhibits. 

Conversations: Dr. Daphne de Marneffe, "The Rough Patch"

Dr. Daphne de Marneffe is a psychologist who teaches and lectures widely on marriage, couple therapy, adult development and parenthood. In her clinical practice, she offers psychotherapy to couples and individuals. On this edition of Conversations, she joins us to talk about her latest book, The Rough Patch – Marriage and the Art of Living Together.

Conversations: Robbin Legere Henderson, "Immigrant Girl, Radical Woman"

Robbin Legere Henderson is an artist, freelance curator and exhibition consultant. On this edition of Conversations, she joins us to talk about Immigrant Girl, Radical Woman – A Memoir from the Early Twentieth Century. The memoir was written by Henderson’s grandmother, Matilda Rabinowitz, a pioneering labor organizer, who passed away in 1963.

Conversations: Frank Billingsley, "Swabbed and Found"

Frank Billingsley has been a Houston, Texas Weatherman for almost 30 years. Billingsley is adopted and became curious about his birth parents. He’s written a memoir about his experiences using genetic testing and genealogical programs to piece together his family history. On this edition of Conversations, he joins us to talk about Swabbed and Found: An Adopted Man’s DNA Journey to Discover his Family Tree.


Conversations: Frances Moore Lappe' & Adam Eichen, "Daring Democracy"

On this edition of Conversations, Francis Moore Lappe' and Adam Eichen join us to talk about their book  Daring Democracy - Igniting Power, Meaning and Connection for the America We Want. Lappe' is best known for her book Diet for a Small Planet. Adam Eichen is a political researcher and organizer. They discuss what they see as the Anti-Democracy movement and how a growing Democracy Movement can counteract negative trends in government.


Conversations: Justin Marable, "Time-Shift Paradox"

On this edition of Conversations, artist Justin Marable joins us to talk about his immersive and interactive art instillation at the Lawrence Arts Center. Marable built the experience around a narrative he created about time traveling activists who work to alter the course history for the benefit of our future. The exhibit will be on display through February 24th.


Conversations: Zingerman's Bakehouse Cookbook

Amy Emberling and Frank Carollo are master bakers and the co-owners of Zingerman’s Bakehouse, an artisanal bakery in Ann Arbor, Michigan. To celebrate their 25th anniversary, they’ve published a cookbook aptly titled Zingerman’s Bakehouse. On this edition of Conversations, Amy and Frank join me to talk about the book.
