At a Glance: Where Kansas 2nd District Candidates Stand on Major Issues

In eastern Kansas, two congressional newcomers are facing off for the 2nd District seat in a race focused on the coronavirus, health care and how the nation should recover after the virus wanes.  Kansas Public Radio's Stephen Koranda filed this report for the Kansas News Service.


 

The 2nd Congressional District seat is wide open after current GOP Rep. Steve Watkins lost in the primary. The Republican candidate is state Treasurer Jake LaTurner, who previously was a state senator. The Democrats have Topeka Mayor Michelle De La Isla. Here’s where the two stand on major topics facing the state.
