The Kansas governor-elect, Laura Kelly, joined Jim McLean of the Kansas News Service on stage in Topeka Wednesday night – a rare public appearance for her since the election. Kelly did not divulge details of the budget she’ll be proposing to the Legislature in January. But she did hint at how she’ll handle the Republican-controlled Legislature as a Democrat in the state’s top job, and she shared some of what she’s been up to in the past several weeks.
