Kansas News Service Reporters Recap Wichita Gubernatorial Forum

Unlike other forums, this event featured all five candidates running for Kansas governor. The two leading candidates, Democrat Laura Kelly and Republican Kris Kobach, frequently sparred over issues ranging from education funding and gun laws to immigration policy.

Kansas gubernatorial contenders Laura Kelly, the Democratic state senator, and Kris Kobach, the Republican secretary of state, sparred again last (TUE) night. Meanwhile, three other candidates on the forum stage tried to present themselves as the best alternative to the two major party candidates. Brian Grimmett followed along with a couple of his Kansas News Service colleagues.

Brian Grimmett, Stephen Koranda and Madeline Fox are all contributors to the Kansas News Service, a collaboration covering health, education, and politics across the state. The team will be reporting from the campaign trail through Election Day.
