The state’s budget problem will be the first priority facing Kansas lawmakers today (WED) as they start the second part of their annual session. Specifically, lawmakers will be looking for ways to erase $290 million in red ink and balance the budget. One of the proposals they’re considering would close a controversial tax exemption for businesses. But supporters of the measure are having trouble lining up the votes they need. Reporter Jim McLean spoke with one state lawmaker who was visiting with voters in his southeast Kansas district.
