Kansas Republicans Send Congress Letter on Obamacare
Dozens of Republican Kansas lawmakers sent a letter to leaders in Congress Monday urging a re-examination of the 2010 federal health care overhaul if the Supreme Court outlaws one of its key components. House Republican Dan Hawkins of Wichita says GOP leaders in Washington need to have a plan in place if the law is overturned. "They need to take care of this on ther federal level" Hawkins said. "Then once they get their job done, we'll do what we need to do on the state level." But Democratic Representative John Carmichael of Wichita says the letter is pointless and offers no solutions. "The problem they have today is, this law is becoming increasingly accepted" Carmichael said. "I don't see that they're proposing any specific fix or change, rather that something...anything, has to be done about Obamacare." The Supreme Court’s set to rule on the legality of federal subsidies in states such as Kansas, which don’t have their own healthcare exchanges.
