Brownback Signs Bill Easing Requirements to Carry a Concealed Gun

Most people in Kansas who are 21 and older will soon be able to carry a concealed gun without a license.  Today (THUR), Governor Sam Brownback signed into law a bill that removes the requirement for training and background checks to carry concealed firearms.

“Responsible gun ownership for protection and sport, is a right inherent in our Constitution. It is a right that Kansans hold dear and have repeatedly and overwhelmingly reaffirmed a commitment to protecting,” says Brownback.

Critics are concerned because those who want to carry a concealed handgun will no longer be required to take any training, but Brownback says he hopes gun owners will still choose to take safety courses.
