Obama Visits KC Area

President Barack Obama was in Missouri today (FRI) saying Congress must not jeopardize fragile economic progress with threats of a government shutdown. Obama appeared at a Ford plant in the Kansas City area to highlight the resurgence of the auto industry. While Ford did not get a bailout, Obama pointed out that if the other auto companies had failed that would have hurt suppliers and affected Ford. Now this ford plant is expanding. Obama touted the auto bailouts as reversing what he called the flat lining of the auto industry.

Obama said disagreements over passing a stopgap funding bill in washington could hurt economic growth and send the economy into a tailspin. The U.S. House has approved a government funding bill, but it also defunds Obama's health care law, which the president says he won’t agree to.
