KS Democrats Hope to Pick Up Legislative Seats This Fall

Senator Anthony Hensley (D-Topeka) speaking to reporters. (Photo by Stephen Koranda)Democrats in the Kansas Legislature say their party could pick up some seats in the fall election. A number of Republicans faced primary challenges from candidates promising to bring an even more conservative viewpoint to the Legislature. Anthony Hensley, of Topeka, is the top Democrat in the Senate. He says moderates, regardless of their party, are likely to find some common ground with Democrats running in the fall general election.

Hensley says one of their main campaign platforms will be lowering property taxes in Kansas.
